Why the new Montgomery Catfish believe in Garrett Coliseum
Reading time: 2 minutes

The Montgomery Catfish have found a home for the arena football team’s upcoming American Arena League debut. Now, team leadership is breaking down exactly why Garrett Coliseum works for the franchise.
After naming Julius “Coach Deuce” Gregory as its first head coach over the summer, the franchise has been hard at work behind the scenes. Since that major coaching hire, the team has added several supporting staff members, along with assembling its inaugural player roster.
Bringing arena football back to Garrett Coliseum

Responding to fan feedback about what to expect in 2027, the organization’s breakdown of why Garrett Coliseum works highlights the venue’s community roots as an unmatched fit for the city’s new arena football team.
Team officials say game days at Garrett Coliseum will feature:
- A cool atmosphere
- A sharp field and equipment setup
- Food and vendor options
- Four press boxes
- Four large video screens
- Close-up field suites for a front-row view of the action
- A 7,500-seat capacity
Acknowledging the heavy lifting required to prep the space, organizers shared:
“The fine people that run the Coliseum have worked tirelessly, day and night, to help us take the Catfish from an idea to a reality better than we could have imagined!”
This move brings the sport back to a familiar stage, marking the first time Garrett Coliseum has hosted an indoor football team since the Montgomery Bears took the field there in 2007.
With major milestones achieved and team building in full swing, the Montgomery Catfish are gearing up to give fans a great new entertainment option. Pairing a historic arena with a hard-working local team gives fans plenty to look forward to when game days roll around in April 2027.
