The Montgomery Catfish, the River Region’s brand-new professional arena football team, has revealed Garrett Coliseum as its official host venue for its debut season in 2027. Team officials made the announcement over the Labor Day weekend.

Located at 1555 Federal Dr., the historic 12,500-seat multi-purpose arena has hosted concerts, rodeos and sporting events for decades. Securing the familiar community hub marks a huge piece of the puzzle as organizers prepare for kickoff.

The Montgomery Catfish’s choice of venue brings a sense of nostalgia for longtime sports followers across the city. Garrett Coliseum will feel instantly familiar to those who remember it hosting the capital city’s previous indoor football franchises, the Montgomery Maulers and the Montgomery Bears in the 2000s.

Bringing football back inside the legendary arena connects the new franchise to Montgomery’s rich sports history while ushering in a fresh era of family-friendly entertainment.

“We’re excited to bring arena football back to Montgomery and even more excited about what we’re building around it.”
