What to know about new after-school programs at 5 MPS campuses

Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) is expanding after-school learning opportunities through the federally funded 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program.

If your child attends one of these five Montgomery schools, they now have somewhere exciting to go after the last bell rings.

This program provides students with engaging academic enrichment and activities beyond the regular school day through proven teaching methods, project-based learning, family engagement, service learning and other hands-on experiences that help bring learning to life.

What the 21st CCLC after-school programs offer Montgomery students

The 21st CCLC program is designed to be much more than just a place for Montgomery students to wait for their ride home. By focusing on hands-on and project-based learning, these centers aim to make education fun and interactive.

Here is what participating students will have access to:

  • Targeted academic enrichment to reinforce classroom learning
  • Collaborative projects that encourage problem-solving and teamwork
  • Service-learning activities that connect students to their local community
  • Dedicated family engagement initiatives to help parents support their child’s educational journey

How do parents register for MPS after-school programs?

These new programs will run throughout the school year while MPS is in session, as well as for several weeks during the summer.

The five participating schools are:

  • Flowers Elementary School: After-school programming Monday-Friday
  • Bellingrath Middle School: After-school programming Monday–Thursday
  • Capitol Heights Middle School: After-school programming Monday–Thursday
  • Goodwyn Middle School: After-school programming Monday–Thursday
  • McKee Middle School: After-school programming Monday–Thursday

Pro Tip for Parents: The school district says families should contact their child’s school directly for registration information and specific program schedules. Participating schools will also share regular updates through their official websites, social media channels, robocalls and other school communication streams.
