A line was wrapped around the parking lot as people gathered for the grand opening event of TJ Maxx in Wetumpka.
The store officially opened April 12, marking the company’s third location in the Montgomery area and 29th in the state of Alabama.
It’s located in the Tolouse Shopping Center on Highway 231. Here’s what you need to know about the newest store before you visit:

The new store is expected to bring approximately 85 new jobs to the area and represents an investment of more than $1 million into the property, including building improvements and fixtures.
TJ Maxx grand opening
The store opened early for the day one celebration as city and community leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting led by mayor Jerry Willis.
The Wetumpka High School marching band helped kick off the morning. During the event, TJ Maxx announced a $10,000 donation to the Elmore County Food Pantry.
“The arrival of TJ Maxx also plays an important role in reducing economic leakage by giving residents more reasons to shop locally rather than traveling outside the area. Increased retail options help keep dollars in Wetumpka, supporting local growth and long-term sustainability.
