
The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops recently released its list for 2026 and nine locations across the entire country made the cut—two of them right here in Alabama.
For the second straight year, our state was well represented on the list. While four made the list last year, two of those made repeat appearances this year including:
- No. 43 Domestique in Birmingham
- No. 66 Prevail in Montgomery
The website uses a weighted voting system with 30% of the final score determined by public vote while an expert panel’s ranking is used for the remaining 70%.

Prevail Union Coffee



While Prevail didn’t make it to the top 20 on this year’s list like it did last year, it still returned to the top 100 across the entire world.
The company has four total locations including two in Georgia and two in Alabama but it is headquartered in Montgomery.
The cafe in the capital city is located just down Dexter Avenue from the state capitol. Customers can get a variety of drinks + walk out with mugs, t-shirts or their own bag of coffee beans to make at home.
