Off-price discount retailer Burlington is expanding in the River Region with a brand-new location in Prattville.

LDI Line, a commercial planroom website, shows bids closed at the end of August to renovate a store at 1957 Cobbs Ford Rd. That address belongs to the former Big Lots! inside Prattville’s high-traffic Premiere Place shopping center. The major retail hub is already home to popular storefronts like Walmart and Michaels.

Burlington Store 1922 is moving into the vacant storefront directly next door to Bealls, a company spokesperson confirmed. An opening timeline for the new store has not yet been set, the spokesperson added.

Renovations to transform the space for Prattville’s new Burlington location are expected to take shape soon.

With Premiere Place working through recent anchor vacancies, including the 2024 closure of Big Lots! and Shoe Station’s move to Prattville Town Center, Burlington’s future arrival marks a major win for the shopping center. The brand could help revitalize the plaza and drive more foot traffic to neighboring storefronts.

Burlington, well known by shoppers for offering deep discounts on brand-name apparel, shoes, home decor, beauty products and baby gear, has accelerated its national retail growth in recent years. The company frequently expands its footprint by stepping into commercial spaces recently vacated by other major big-box retailers.

The popular retailer has long maintained a strong presence in the River Region, currently operating two locations in Montgomery: one situated in midtown and another serving the city’s east side. Adding a Prattville storefront will mark its third footprint in the area, providing easier access for shoppers north of the Alabama River.

Montgomery UP will follow the retailer’s progress and provide updates as new information becomes available.
