The initiative stands as one of several District 7 infrastructure + master-planning projects funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds dedicated by District 7 Councilor Andrew Szymanski. The primary goal is to improve connectivity, safety + overall quality of life while keeping residents at the center of future development.

The master plan recommends a variety of phased improvements to transform the area into a vibrant destination, including:

  • Upgraded recreational facilities + walking trails
  • Therapeutic gardens + community gathering spaces
  • Pedestrian safety upgrades + traffic-calming measures
  • Enhanced lighting + security features
  • Removal of blighted conditions to support economic growth

Councilor Szymanski noted that the plan successfully positions the city to pursue future grants, partnerships + phased redevelopment opportunities that honor the history of the area.
