As Alabama’s medical cannabis program officially gets underway, a new resource for local patients has locked in its debut. The Green Remedy, a multi-state medical cannabis evaluation clinic, will open its new Montgomery location this Saturday, June 6.

Because Alabama’s medical cannabis program regulates access closely, the clinic will operate strictly on an appointment-only basis. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

The Montgomery office marks the provider’s very first location to open in Alabama, with sister clinics in Birmingham and Huntsville slated to follow.

This is what you need to know about the new clinic, the woman-owned business behind it and how the patient certification process works.

Founded in 2017 by entrepreneur Chanel Rousseau, The Green Remedy operates as a specialized medical practice focused entirely on medical cannabis evaluations, education and patient certifications. The clinic does not dispense or sell cannabis products itself. Instead, its licensed physicians evaluate patients to legally certify them for state-issued medical marijuana cards.

Rousseau built the enterprise from the ground up, first launching in Pennsylvania. Over nearly a decade, she has expanded the clinic’s footprint across multiple states. Alabama marks the latest step in that expansion, growing a roster of states that includes:

  • Pennsylvania
  • Kentucky
  • West Virginia
  • Ohio

According to a statement on the company’s website, the clinic is currently handling high demand during the state program launch.

“Our team is actively working through our patient callback list and will be reaching out soon if you contacted us within the last few months.”

Here is exactly what you need to establish a visit:

  • Pre-registration: Patients must first complete a digital intake form and submit required documents. You can access the specific booking portal directly at The Green Remedy Appointment Request. Once processed, the clinic’s team coordinates the formal, appointment-only booking.
  • Prior medical records: You will need to provide documentation or proof of your diagnosis from a primary care provider or specialist during the evaluation process.
  • A qualifying condition: Alabama law permits medical cannabis certifications only for a specific list of approved, chronic, or debilitating conditions.
