The Montgomery area is packed with events this week as we get ready to close out July on a high note and head into August.
Here are events this week in the Montgomery area:
1. Ride the rapids at Montgomery Whitewater

Montgomery Whitewater will hold its first-ever Whitewater Rodeo. Families can enjoy rodeo rafting, a top wave corral, live music and a mechanical bull named Milkshake.

2-3. Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts

The Museum of Fine Art is hosting two themed events this week: Mornings at the Museum + ArtTalk: African-American Artists and Muses.
Mornings at the Museum is a peaceful morning designed for preschoolers and their caregivers, offering a welcoming space for little one to explore through bubbles, sensory play, story time and creative activities.

ArtTalk: African-American Artists and Muses invites visual artists of every experience to bring one piece of artwork to share and discuss in a supportive, welcoming environment.

4-5. World premiere of new faith-based film + Capri Theatre caps off its Summer Children’s Matinee

Capri Theatre will be premiering the new faith-based film “Where is Your Faith”.
A story about a man and woman impacted by separate tragedies, who both find their way back to not perfect faith, but hope.
The actors will be in attendance at the screenings held at the theatre.

Capri Theatre is capping off its Summer Children’s Matinees program with a showing of popular children’s movie The Bad Guys 2 for an affordable price.

6. Pike Road Back to School Bash: marketplace, music + more!

The Town of Pike Road will host a Back to School Bash to help students and families prepare for the upcoming school year.
This free, family-friendly event will feature school supplies, food, music and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Kids of all ages can climb aboard a fire truck, tractors, police cruisers and meet local firefighters, police officers and other community heroes.
You can enjoy music from DJ at Large, shop a marketplace of local vendors and enjoy food from local food trucks.

7. Prattville celebrates 187 years with Founders Day concert

The City of Prattville will celebrate its past and future with the Founder’s Day Concert for an evening of history, hometown pride and live music.
More than 185 years ago, Daniel Pratt transformed a small settlement along Augusta Creek into what is now known as Prattville. His vision of innovation and community growth continues to shape the city we know and love today.
The evening will start with remarks from Mayor Bill Gillespie, followed by a performance from local musician Jessie Lynn, celebrating the city’s rich history.

8. FREE outdoor concert in Montgomery

You can see Jonathan Michael for an evening of original lyrics and music that celebrates our community at the Back to School Bash.
