
Montgomery is the 6th best place to live in Alabama, according to a survey by U.S. News and World Report.
U.S. News, the magazine known for detailed national rankings on colleges, hospitals and communities, released today their 2026-2027 Best Places to Live in the U.S. edition.
Within the national ranking, U.S. News also released the 13 Best Places to Live in Alabama.
The survey was based on the following criteria:
- Affordability
- Desirability
- Job market
- Quality of life
Alabama’s 13 best places to live in 2026
Hoover, the Birmingham suburb, took the top spot in Alabama and was ranked the 6th Best Place to Live in the national ranking.
Daphne was ranked the second best city in Alabama and 42nd nationally. North Alabama’s Decatur is the third best community to live in the state and the 60th nationally.
