Reading time: 2 minutes

There’s good news for your wallet, River Region drivers! Gas prices in the Montgomery area are continuing to trend downward, bringing welcome relief just in time for mid-summer road trips.
According to the latest data from AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in the Montgomery metro area sits at $3.53. That’s a steep decline from the $4.02 average recorded just one month ago. Montgomery drivers are now paying 49 cents less per gallon — roughly a 12% decrease in total fuel costs over the last 30 days.

The savings aren’t just limited to the capital city. Statewide, Alabama drivers are experiencing similar relief, with the statewide average hovering right around $3.45 per gallon.
This downward shift mirrors a broader national trend. According to recent market analysis from GasBuddy, prices are dipping in the vast majority of states.
“Average gasoline prices fell in 46 states over the last week, with diesel declining in 49, pushing the national average to its lowest level since mid-March.”
