Plans have been revealed to overhaul a Church’s Texas Chicken restaurant in Montgomery, bringing a fresh footprint to a high-traffic corridor.

FRIS CHKN LLC, the franchise owner and operator of the fast food restaurant at 2450 East South Blvd., detailed plans in the most recent Montgomery City Planning Commission meeting. Sam Lawson, a civil engineer with Kimley-Horn, recently briefed city planners on the proposed site updates.

Under the proposed plans submitted to the city, the franchisee would demolish the current Church’s Texas Chicken building on the site to make way for a brand-new 1,400-square-foot structure and 37 parking spaces.

If you frequently pass by or visit this location, you may know that this is a very busy restaurant for the fried chicken chain. So, it’s no wonder that a modernized layout is in the works to better serve hungry commuters and locals. The updated plan aims to offer a completely refreshed setup for the property.

The demolition and rebuild request did not require any action by the planning commission. However, a required public hearing was held on Aug. 27 to provide community members with an opportunity to express opinions, though no questions were raised by attendees.

The proposed project is pending review by several city departments before official construction timelines are finalized. Should the plans receive full approval, Church’s Texas Chicken will bring a modernized dining experience to East South Boulevard.
