Two free Montgomery hiring events are on the horizon, offering a direct path to connect with recruiters, discover local resources and apply for a diverse range of open positions.
The first event kicks off this week, followed by a large community-wide fair early next month. Here is everything you need to know to get ready.
1. Land a role at the Dollar General Montgomery hiring event
The first hiring push is happening this week. Dollar General is actively looking to fill a variety of key roles at its regional Montgomery distribution center. Whether you prefer hitting the open road or keeping things moving smoothly behind the scenes, there are several pathways to explore.
Available positions listed online include:
- Fleet safety supervisor
- Class A CDL truck driver
- General warehouse personnel
If you are eyeing one of the warehouse roles, keep in mind that these positions are physically demanding. The company lists the following workplace conditions for warehouse team members:
- Continuous lifting of merchandise up to 65 pounds on a regular basis, and occasional team lifting of merchandise up to 85 pounds
- Continuous walking, including long distances and up and down stairs
- May work at heights up to 30 feet above the ground
- Standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and pushing/pulling using hands and/or arms on a repetitive basis above and below shoulder level
- May work continuously up to 12 hours
- Exposure to dust, noise and extreme heat or cold (including long periods inside freezers, coolers and refrigerators)

2. Connect with regional employers at the Montgomery career fair
If you need a bit more time to polish up your resume or practice your elevator pitch, the City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Career Center are teaming up to hold a large-scale job fair early next month.
City leaders note that attendees will have an incredible face-to-face opportunity to interface with hiring representatives, explore regional employment openings across various industries and learn about available community career resources.
While a formal list of attending employers has not yet been released, these joint city events typically bring together a wide variety of public and private sector partners looking to hire local talent.
Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and dress professionally.
