Longtime Montgomery Dollar General closing: ‘Everything must go’
Reading time: 2 minutes

A staple discount retailer on Montgomery’s east side is preparing to clear its shelves for the last time. Dollar General is shutting down one of its longtime locations, marking a notable shift for area shoppers who rely on the convenient stop.
Store closing banners are now prominently displayed at the 6220 Atlanta Highway location in the Bell Plaza shopping center. While the storefront is actively preparing for its final days, an exact closing timeline was not immediately available.
Bell Plaza Dollar General liquidation + sales details

Select merchandise throughout the building is currently being sold at discounted prices to clear out remaining inventory before the doors lock permanently. As of Thursday, July 2, in-store signage states that customers can get 15% off most items. However, some exclusions do apply to the current liquidation discount, including alcohol sales.
Shoppers looking to take advantage of the 15% markdown should plan their purchases carefully. Prominent notices posted around the closing storefront emphasize that all sales are final, with absolutely no returns or refunds allowed.
Dollar General Montgomery footprint

Despite this particular storefront shutting down soon, the discount giant is not going anywhere. The company will maintain a large footprint across the capital city, including two other properties located on the same corridor as the spot set to close:
- 8990 Atlanta Hwy.
- 5456 Atlanta Hwy.
Montgomery UP has reached out to corporate officials for an official comment regarding the specific reason for the closure. This story will be updated as soon as we hear back.
