Big retail shifts could be on the horizon for optical shoppers across the capital city! Public commercial planning documents indicate that national eyewear and prescription lens retailer LensCrafters may relocate its longtime Montgomery store from its space inside Eastdale Mall to The Shoppes at EastChase.

Here’s what we know about the prospective move.

According to LDI Line, a commercial development and construction bidding website, contractor bidding is currently underway for a potential LensCrafters storefront location at 6820 EastChase Parkway. The commercial planroom listing notes an active bid deadline of Sept. 18 for contractors.

The optical retailer appears to be eyeing a prominent storefront space that currently sits vacant between Foot Locker and a newly opened Journeys location. The suite was last occupied by Trek Bicycle, which closed its doors earlier this year. Notably, the construction bidding platform lists store #0251 for the project, which matches the store identification number associated with the current location at the mall.

Eastdale Mall’s online store directory no longer lists LensCrafters, even though the store remains open. The mall store is located by an entrance near Chuck E. Cheese, a specific wing of the facility that has experienced quite a few commercial closures in recent years.

While public bidding documents point toward a potential across-town store relocation, official confirmation regarding the transition is still pending. Montgomery UP has reached out to EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of LensCrafters, for official comment regarding a potential project timeline or transition details. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
