Originally known as “McGehee’s Switch,” Hope Hull has a legacy that dates back to the 1870s when it served as a vital stop on the Mobile and Montgomery Railroad. The area was eventually renamed in honor of Hope Hull, a legendary Methodist circuit rider.

Today, the community is home to roughly 7,300 residents, according to U.S. Census data. The area also has historic landmarks like the Tankersley Rosenwald School, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places

The upcoming vote lets the community decide how to balance new growth with its long-standing rural identity.
