FREE youth golf clinic coming to Montgomery: How to sign up

Young Montgomery sports fans have a fantastic new opportunity to swing into action at a free youth golf clinic this fall! First Tee – Birmingham is bringing its youth development programming south to the capital city on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Whether your child has never picked up a club or is already working on their posture, this community-centered event promises an engaging afternoon on the green.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming event at Gateway Park Golf Course and how to reserve your child’s spot.

What to expect at the Montgomery free youth golf clinic

Participants at this free youth golf clinic will focus on fundamental sports techniques while discovering how lessons on the fairway translate directly into everyday life.

Rather than solely drilling swing mechanics, the clinic’s activities will encourage kids to:

• Set achievable goals
• Make thoughtful choices under pressure
• Show good sportsmanship to their peers

Designed to welcome kids of all backgrounds and skill levels, the event provides a supportive environment where participants can build character alongside athletic ability.

“Golf is much more than hitting a golf ball,” said Quincy Leonard, a Montgomery golf coach and youth golf advocate. “It is a vehicle for teaching young people confidence, discipline, perseverance, and how to handle challenges both on and off the course. We are excited to introduce more Montgomery families to the First Tee experience.”

Parents do not need to worry about buying gear beforehand, either. Golf clubs and equipment are fully provided on-site, making the experience completely accessible to every interested family in the community.
