This local celebration perfectly aligns with a statewide perk. Governor Kay Ivey officially proclaimed Saturday, June 13, 2026, as Free Fishing Day across the state of Alabama.

This special designation allows both Alabamians and out-of-state visitors to fish in most public waters, freshwater and saltwater alike, without purchasing a fishing license. It’s the ultimate opportunity to introduce newcomers to the sport or just enjoy Alabama’s beautiful waters for free.
