A major chapter in Montgomery retail history has come to a quiet end. Otoro Hibachi, the final remaining tenant in the Eastdale Mall food court, has officially served its last customers.

After a run of a few years supplying shoppers with quick hibachi favorites, the local eatery has closed its doors, leaving the mall’s central dining space completely vacant—at least for now. While the future of the space remains open, this marks a historic pause for the area.

For decades, the Eastdale Mall food court was a vibrant community hub and a weekend staple for River Region families. It was once packed with a mix of local flavor and massive national brands, including:

  • Baskin-Robbins
  • Chick-fil-A
  • Subway
  • Charley’s Philly Steaks
  • Sbarro Italian Eatery
  • Flames
  • Chinese Cafe

What eateries are still open at Eastdale Mall?

While the main food court stalls are dark for the time being, you can still grab a bite or a sweet treat if you are walking the mall. There are several popular standalone eateries and entertainment spots operating outside of the food court area.

You can still visit:

  • Great American Cookies
  • Cinnabon
  • Chuck E. Cheese’s
  • Boyd’s 313 Restaurant and Lounge

Eastdale Mall remains Montgomery’s only indoor shopping mall, and while the retail landscape continues to shift, these remaining spots are still open for business. Whether the mall will eventually revamp or revive the food court with new concepts remains to be seen, but we will be keeping a close eye on what’s next.
