Crumbl Cookies shutters midtown Montgomery bakery after 3 years
Reading time: 2 minutes

A popular midtown Montgomery sweet spot has closed its doors. The Crumbl Cookies bakery at 3012 Zelda Rd., located in the Publix-anchored Zelda Place shopping center, has permanently ceased operations.
The gourmet cookie chain originally opened this spot back in 2023 as its very first location in Montgomery, drawing long lines of eager cookie lovers.
What’s left inside the shuttered Zelda Road Crumbl

While exterior signage still sits prominently above the storefront between neighboring businesses, handwritten notices taped to the front glass leave no doubt about the store’s status:
“Dear Crumbl Customers, Our Zelda location is Permanently Closed. Please visit our Crumbl Cornerstone location. Thank you.”
A second handwritten note instructs delivery drivers and vendors on where to take packages:
“FOR FEDEX DELIVERY: please please leave items in bucket by door or if possible, bring to the Cornerstone Crumbl: 7736 Vaughn Road!”
Peer inside the windows and you’ll see baking counters, beverage equipment and flavor syrup bottles still lining the counters as if the bakery paused mid-shift.
Montgomery Crumbl Cookies closure reflects national trend

The midtown Montgomery closure is part of a larger trend for the Utah-based bakery brand. Nearly 60 Crumbl locations across the country have closed this year amid declining sales and franchisee financial challenges, according to a report by TheStreet.
Fortunately for local fans, the remaining Crumbl Cookies store at 7736 Vaughn Rd. in the Cornerstone shopping center remains open.
