Coming soon? Chipotle proposes new Montgomery location
Reading time: 2 minutes

Commercial movement along Atlanta Highway in Montgomery may soon see a familiar fast-casual addition. Chipotle Mexican Grill is eyeing a third Montgomery location near a busy shopping center, according to newly filed architectural plans under review by the city.
The site sits at 6501 Atlanta Highway, in front of the Walmart-anchored Oliver Creek Shopping Center. The proposed restaurant would occupy the former Starbucks building, giving the fast-casual chain another high-visibility location.
Here is what we know about the proposed plans so far:
- Location: 6501 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery
- Previous Use: Former Starbucks location (closed last year)
- Co-tenants: Adjacent to Freeway Insurance and America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses
- Size: ~2,000 square feet
- Features: Proposed indoor dining area, patio seating, and a dedicated “Chipotlane” pick-up window for mobile orders.
Proposed “Chipotlane” conversion moving through city review

If approved, construction plans detail a complete overhaul of the existing footprint. The site’s current drive-thru layout is slated to be transformed into Chipotle’s signature “Chipotlane,” a specialized order pickup window built exclusively for digital and app orders.
Documents show that construction bidding for the proposed building conversion is due on Aug. 13.
What this means for Chipotle’s Montgomery footprint

If passed by city reviewers, the Atlanta Highway spot would mark Chipotle’s third restaurant in the capital city, expanding its footprint alongside existing spots at The Shoppes at EastChase and along Eastern Boulevard.
