Central Alabama Community Foundation awards more than $103K in grants

The Central Alabama Community Foundation (CACF) awarded 18 education grants for more than $103,000 to nonprofit organizations serving the River Region on Wednesday, June 10, at the Britton YMCA.

Established in 1987, CACF supports nonprofit groups throughout the Montgomery metro area. 

The foundation supports the following areas of interest:

• Education
• Health
• Human services
• Cultural arts
• Recreation
• Historic preservation 

In May, the foundation awarded $186,545.50 in family, food + medical grants to River Region area nonprofits.

Central Alabama Community Foundation education grants

Below is list of the June CACF awardees + grant amounts listed on the Foundation’s website.

• Alabama Institute for Deaf & Blind Foundation to support the cost of two intensive 8-week ASL Bootcamp programs — $6,000
• Big Brothers Big Sisters -Montgomery Satellite Office to support youth & mentor engagement activities, administrative costs and mentoring match for 20 new workplace-based matches at Capital Heights Middle School — $10,000
• Girls on the Run South Central Alabama to subsidize Title 1 school teams in Central Alabama (Autauga & Elmore Counties included) for the 2026–2027 school year at $150 per girl — $21,000.
• Hope Inspired Ministries to support classroom materials, transportation, internship costs, background checks, drug tests, counseling and housing for a 9 week workforce education program — $11,620
• Montgomery Education Foundation to maintain current STARBASE Advanced afterschool program services for 6th–7th graders and enable expansion to every Montgomery County middle school — $20,000
• Montgomery Education Foundation to support a part-time instructor and essential equipment to expand STARBASE Advanced to every Autauga County middle school — $3,000 
• Montgomery Education Foundation to support a part-time instructor and essential equipment to expand STARBASE Advanced to every Elmore County middle school — $3,000
• Rosa Parks Museum at Troy University to support transportation, field trip admission fees and art supplies for the Architects of Change Summer Camp — $10,000
• Alabama Wildlife Federation to provide conservation education programs for Autauga and Elmore County children — $3,000
• Autauga County Family Support Center to support the purchase of evidence-based curriculum and training materials for four Family Programs — $3,000F
• Liberty Learning Foundation to subsidize the Next Great American Tour Program, Libby Liberty and Celebration Event and program resources, materials and supplies in Autauga County — $3,000
• Liberty Learning Foundation to subsidize the Next Great American Tour Program, Libby Liberty and Celebration Event and program resources, materials and supplies in Elmore County — $3,000
• Gateway Inc. to provide 20 Garden Kits, soil, compost, seeds, seedlings, garden and measuring tools, educator support stipends and program supplies — $3,000
• ECCF Margaret & Auston Bridges Fund for Arts in Education Grant — to Holtville High School and Wetumpka High School — $500 for each school
