Capri Theatre celebrates 85 years with community festivities July 18

The marquee lights in Old Cloverdale are shining extra bright this week. Montgomery’s very own historic Capri Theatre is hitting an incredible milestone: its 85th birthday! First opening its doors in 1941 as the Clover Theatre, this neighborhood landmark has stood the test of time, cementing its status as an irreplaceable cultural icon for generations of local moviegoers.

Now operating as Alabama’s longest-running independent cinema, the Capri remains a vibrant, non-profit hub for the arts. To mark nearly nine decades of cinematic magic, the theatre is throwing a big birthday celebration this Saturday, July 18.
