The River Region’s largest beauty store chain is growing again by adding a huge new standalone location to its local lineup.

Beauty & Beyond is moving into a vacant big-box space at 5484 Atlanta Highway in Montgomery. This location will be a first for the local brand as it expands into the supercenter format. An opening timeline wasn’t immediately available as crews continue to prepare the nearly 44,000-square-foot building.

The majority of the brand’s stores are currently located in smaller units within traditional shopping centers, making this giant standalone footprint a major milestone for the company.

Iconic Montgomery retail space gets a major makeover

The prominent Atlanta Highway space was last used by Big Lots, but it is perhaps most fondly known by locals for housing Toys R Us, which operated at this site from the 1980s until the national toy chain ceased operations in 2018.

Transforming a large building means Montgomery shoppers can likely expect an unprecedented selection of cosmetics, hair care and beauty supplies once construction wraps up.

What this means for Beauty & Beyond shoppers on Atlanta Highway

With this new opening, Beauty & Beyond’s existing store directly across the street on Atlanta Highway will close its doors. A moving sale is officially underway at that location.

Don’t worry about losing your favorite neighborhood spot, though. Even with the consolidation, Beauty & Beyond will still maintain two other stores on Atlanta Highway, alongside several additional locations serving communities across Montgomery, Millbrook and Prattville.
