Atwell Suites to open its first Alabama location in Montgomery
Reading time: 3 minutes

Construction has resumed on a hotel project that will bring Atwell Suites, a newer extended-stay brand, to Montgomery’s Eastchase lifestyle center.
Located at 2310 Eastchase Lane, the development is spearheaded by Columbus, Georgia-based RAM Hospitality, marking the debut of the Atwell Suites brand in Alabama.
What to know about Atwell Suites at Eastchase

Though a rendering on the property along Eastchase Lane bears the Holiday Inn name, city planning documents now identify the site as Atwell Suites. The brand is an upper-midscale, extended-stay concept under IHG Hotels & Resorts, the global hospitality parent company behind legacy brands like Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites.
Designed for longer stays, the brand features flexible suite layouts, communal spaces and amenities for guests seeking extra space. The east Montgomery project joins an exclusive group—according to IHG’s website, only nine AtWell Suites properties are currently operating in the country, with dozens more in development nationwide.
Construction began a few years ago before the project was halted. The item returned to the Montgomery Planning Commission in October 2025, where a development spokesperson noted that the southern lot line needed to be moved to accommodate additional parking based on the building’s overall square footage. New construction permits were issued earlier this year, clearing the path for work to restart.

New extended-stay hotel coming to east Montgomery

The future Atwell Suites hotel on Eastchase Lane will stand five stories (60 feet tall), following height variances granted by the city’s Board of Adjustment back in 2017, according to planning records. An opening timeline has not yet been announced.
Key details of the site include:
- Address: 2310 Eastchase Lane
- Size: Nearly 73,000 square feet featuring 120 rooms
- Neighborhood: Situated in the heart of Eastchase, directly behind retail shopping and adjacent to upscale residential living
- Access points: Reached via a private access road built on the property a few years ago off Eastchase Lane and Berryhill Road
