ASE Credit Union welcomes new members after Montgomery VA merger
Reading time: 2 minutes

Local financial choices are evolving in Central Alabama as ASE Credit Union absorbs Montgomery VA Federal Credit Union (MVAFCU) operations.
Originally chartered in 1946, the local credit union long operated inside the Central Alabama VA Medical Center at 215 Perry Hill Rd. Following a recent consolidation, the healthcare- and veteran-focused institution has officially transferred all assets and liabilities to ASE Credit Union. According to iBanknet’s database of NCUA call reports, the integration was officially completed on June 1.
ASE Credit Union makes member transition official

Three months after completion, ASE publicly welcomed its incoming community on Tuesday, Sept. 1, with a social media post:
ASE Credit Union is excited to welcome the members of Montgomery VA Federal Credit Union to our family! We’re honored to have you with us and look forward to serving you as your trusted credit union.

Why board leaders approved the financial integration

What led to the move? MVAFCU board members evaluated both credit unions to build long-term strength and enhance overall value. According to public regulatory filings with the National Credit Union Administration, key benefits include:
- Upgraded mobile app interfaces and online banking management tools
- Higher dividend rates on member deposit and share accounts
- Competitive loan rates across auto, personal, and real estate offerings
- Broadened financial security backed by consolidated assets
While the former MVAFCU location at 215 Perry Hill Rd. has closed and web traffic now redirects to ASE’s official site, new members gain immediate access to broader branch network across central Alabama.
