ALDOT proposes new Pike Road roundabout—have your say

If you frequently travel through the Pike Road area during peak hours, you know it is often a hassle getting onto or across AL-126. Fortunately, relief may be on the horizon.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who actually use this route every day. Here is what you need to know about the proposed improvements.

Proposed Pike Road roundabout project details

The proposed project at the intersection of AL-126 and Wares Ferry Road includes converting the existing two-way stop-controlled intersection to a modern roundabout.

ALDOT says the primary goal of these proposed improvements is to reduce conflict points, improve safety, and enhance overall traffic operations through the intersection.

Along with the roundabout, the proposed project calls for:

• Roadway reconstruction and realignment
• Signing and pavement marking upgrades
• Lighting modifications
• Other associated work necessary to accommodate the roundabout

Worried about road closures? Don’t be! ALDOT officials say construction will be phased to maintain traffic through the intersection and no detours are anticipated.

Community feedback is a vital part of this infrastructure process. All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Friday, July 10, 2026.
