Looking to wrap up summer with an unforgettable three-day weekend? The River Region is packed with incredible Labor Day events, bringing live music, delicious food, high-energy sports and family fun to Montgomery and neighboring communities.

Whether you want to get active, catch a kickoff game or relax on the water, here is your guide to celebrating this three-day weekend.

Saturday, Sept. 5 – Monday, Sept. 8

  • Labor Day 5K & Lil Tri Triathlon: Start your long holiday weekend active at Montgomery Whitewater! The adult 5K begins Saturday, Sept. 5 at 8:30AM, followed by the Lil Tri for kids ages 6–12 at 10AM. Enjoy the Breakfast of Champions and stick around for rafting, ropes courses and outdoor adventure.
  • Community Boost Block Party: Head to Troy University’s Rosa Parks Museum on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11AM-3PM for a family-friendly event presented by Culture in Motion. Experience the historic 1950s Montgomery City Bus, the Freedom Riders Bus and the SUPERCHARGED® Boost Bus™ alongside live DJs, local food and community activities.
  • College Football Home Openers: Local gridiron action returns to the capital city on Saturday, Sept. 5 as Alabama State, Faulkner University and Huntingdon College host their home openers. Grab your team colors and head to the stands!
  • Labor Day River Cruise (Sip-n-Cycle Pedal Cruise): Climb aboard the Sip-n-Cycle Pedal Cruise at Riverfront Park for a BYOB party on the Alabama River! Running Saturday, Sept. 5 – Monday, Sept. 8, from 11AM-8:45PM, it’s a fun way to pedal, dance and celebrate on the water with friends and family.

  • Plies 40 & Up With a Good Job All-White Day Party: Dress in your finest white attire for this 21+ outdoor festival experience at the Montgomery Riverwalk Amphitheater on Sunday, Sept. 6 from 2-9PM. Enjoy VIP lounges, live DJs and a special appearance by hip-hop artist Plies.
  • Montgomery Zoo & Mann Wildlife Learning Museum: Spend quality outdoor time with the family! The Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum will be open during regular business hours (9:30AM–4:30PM) on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6.
  • All-American Bash in Millbrook: Head to 17 Springs in Millbrook from 10AM-2PM on Monday, Sept. 6 for hot dogs, sweet tea, food trucks and big prizes! Don’t miss the hot dog eating contest at 12PM, where $1,333 is up for grabs for participants!
