Three new restaurants have opened in the Montgomery metro area over the past few months.

They include two restaurants in the Westminster Shopping Center β€” South Fork Cafe opened Jan. 27, and fast-casual eatery Huey Magoo’s opened a few doors down March 13.

A third restaurant, sandwich chain Firehouse Subs, opened today in Pike Road.

Read on to see why hungry River District diners should add these three spots to their to-try lists.

South Fork Cafe: Montgomery’s new brunch spot

Montgomery is home to Texas-based chain South Fork Cafe’s first location outside the Lone Star State.

The ultimate brunch spot specializes in hearty breakfast and lunch dishes, including:

  • Eggs benedict
  • Omelettes
  • Sandwiches, classic burgers + salads

Both its breakfast and lunch selections are served all day.

Manager Ryan Littrell shared some of the current popular items:

β€œFrom the breakfast side of the menu, our Triple Play β€” choice of pancake, crepe, waffle or French toast served with eggs, bacon and sausage β€” is our best seller, and people love our omelets, too. They’re really big and fluffy.”

Burgers and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches are also among the favorites from the cafe’s lunch selections. Diners have given South Fork Cafe positive reviews for service, value and taste.

β€œWe love getting all the good feedback. Folks have really made us feel like part of the community.”

Huey Magoo’s: Chicken lovers, this one is for yo

Chicken lovers are giving high praise to Huey Magoo’s, known nationwide for its chicken tenders made exclusively from the tenderloin section of the chicken breast, which the restaurant claims is β€œthe best 3% of the chicken.” The Midtown Montgomery location marks Huey Magoo’s 87th restaurant in the country and the third location in the River Region.

The restaurant offers chicken tenders both breaded and fried or marinated and grilled. Getting the fried or grilled tenders tossed in one of the eatery’s flavorful sauces β€” buffalo, sweet red chili, lemon pepper or garlic parmesan β€” is another popular option. Salads topped with chicken tenders and chicken-tender sandwiches round out the menu.

Huey Magoo’s loyalty rewards program is a hit with customers, too. Rewards members earn points toward free food with every purchase, according to a press release from the restaurant.
