Looking for summer fun with the whole family? From live music to fireworks, Montgomery has plenty on the calendar.

Keep reading for 12 pocket-friendly events happening across the River Region.

1. Faulkner University celebrates individuals with disabilities + launches new magazine

Celebrate community and inclusion at Faulkner University’s special event honoring individuals with disabilities. Including the official ribbon-cutting and launch of Uniquely You Central Alabama magazine.

Headlining the afternoon is Greg Marlow with his single, “Everybody Smiles,” currently #1 on Christian Country Countdown.

You’ll also have the opportunity to experience interactive exhibits like:

  • SNASY: Alabama’s first mobile, private assistance stations restoring dignity for special needs families, veterans and seniors at community events.
  • SOUND: The mobile sensory activation vehicle from Auburn University’s College of Nursing.
  • A Little Something Extra: Ice Cream Truck operated by members of the disability community.

Following the ceremony, grab some refreshments at Bates House of Turkey and cookies from Lorraine’s Bake Shop.

2. Drop-In Art Workshop: Tissue Paper Campfires

Stop by the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts for a free drop-in art workshop where you can create colorful tissue paper campfires. It’s the perfect summer activity for young artists.

3. Midnight Summer Jam

McIntyre Community Center’s Midnight Summer Jam brings music, games and community fun to Montgomery, and it’s free to attend!

4. Tabernacle Choir’s “Songs of Hope” Concert

Spend a summer evening under the stars with an outdoor viewing of the Tabernacle Choir’s “Songs of Hope” concert. Grab your e-ticket (it’s free!) and enjoy inspiring music in a relaxed setting with family and friends.

5. Cody Bolden and The Roadhands

Country music fans, this one’s for you. Cody Bolden and The Roadhands are bringing live music to Red Bluff Bar at the Silos on June 26.

6. Alex Walker Duo

Back-to-back nights at Red Bluff Bar—what more can you ask for? Alex Walker Duo is back for more tunes and good company on June 27.

7. Celebrate America250 at Old Alabama Town

From historical fun to community festivities, this free event is a great way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with family and friends. Plus, what better backdrop for a summer evening than one of Montgomery’s most historic spots?

8. First Friday: Memphis Takeover!

Craving Memphis magic but don’t want to leave Montgomery? Head to BB King’s Blues Club for First Friday: Memphis Takeover on July 3. Come hungry and stay for the music.

9. Montgomery Independence Day Celebration

At Montgomery Independence Day Celebration, kids can enjoy the new Kids Zone while everyone grabs their favorite treats from the concession stands and wave their American flags (free for the first 2,000 guests!)

Gates open at 7PM and fireworks start at 9PM. See ya there!

10. Karren Pell and the Old Alabama Revue

Slow down and soak up a little summertime nostalgia with Karren Pell and the Old Alabama Revue—music, stories and local, Southern charm.

11. Explore Alabama’s Bicentennial History at Food for Thought

Spend your lunch break at the Museum of Alabama and explore the state’s 1976 Bicentennial history through the story of Milo B. Howard Jr. and his vision for Alabama’s future.

12. Capital City Food Truck Festival

The Capital City Food Truck Festival is rolling into Cramton Bowl on July 25 with delicious eats, live music and family-friendly fun. Bring your friends and family and make an afternoon of it.
